1:1 Pablo, apóstol de Jesucristo por mandato de Dios nuestro Salvador, y del Señor Jesucristo nuestra esperanza, Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope; 1 παῦλος ἀπόστολος χριστοῦ ἰησοῦ κατ᾽ ἐπιταγὴν θεοῦ σωτῆρος ἡμῶν καὶ χριστοῦ ἰησοῦ τῆς ἐλπίδος ἡμῶν
1:2 a Timoteo, verdadero hijo en la fe: Gracia, misericordia y paz, de Dios nuestro Padre y de Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor. Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. 2 τιμοθέῳ γνησίῳ τέκνῳ ἐν πίστει· χάρις, ἔλεος, εἰρήνη ἀπὸ θεοῦ πατρὸς καὶ χριστοῦ ἰησοῦ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν.
1:3 Como te rogué que te quedases en Efeso, cuando fui a Macedonia, para que mandases a algunos que no enseñen diferente doctrina, As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 3 καθὼς παρεκάλεσά σε προσμεῖναι ἐν ἐφέσῳ πορευόμενος εἰς μακεδονίαν, ἵνα παραγγείλῃς τισὶν μὴ ἑτεροδιδασκαλεῖν
1:4 ni presten atención a fábulas y genealogías interminables, que acarrean disputas más bien que edificación de Dios que es por fe, así te encargo ahora. Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. 4 μηδὲ προσέχειν μύθοις καὶ γενεαλογίαις ἀπεράντοις, αἵτινες ἐκζητήσεις παρέχουσιν μᾶλλον ἢ οἰκονομίαν θεοῦ τὴν ἐν πίστει·
1:5 Pues el propósito de este mandamiento es el amor nacido de corazón limpio, y de buena conciencia, y de fe no fingida, Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 5 τὸ δὲ τέλος τῆς παραγγελίας ἐστὶν ἀγάπη ἐκ καθαρᾶς καρδίας καὶ συνειδήσεως ἀγαθῆς καὶ πίστεως ἀνυποκρίτου,
1:6 de las cuales cosas desviándose algunos, se apartaron a vana palabrería, From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 6 ὧν τινες ἀστοχήσαντες ἐξετράπησαν εἰς ματαιολογίαν,
1:7 queriendo ser doctores de la ley, sin entender ni lo que hablan ni lo que afirman. Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. 7 θέλοντες εἶναι νομοδιδάσκαλοι, μὴ νοοῦντες μήτε ἃ λέγουσιν μήτε περὶ τίνων διαβεβαιοῦνται.
1:8 Pero sabemos que la ley es buena, si uno la usa legítimamente; But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; 8 οἴδαμεν δὲ ὅτι καλὸς ὁ νόμος ἐάν τις αὐτῶ νομίμως χρῆται,
1:9 conociendo esto, que la ley no fue dada para el justo, sino para los transgresores y desobedientes, para los impíos y pecadores, para los irreverentes y profanos, para los parricidas y matricidas, para los homicidas, Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 9 εἰδὼς τοῦτο, ὅτι δικαίῳ νόμος οὐ κεῖται, ἀνόμοις δὲ καὶ ἀνυποτάκτοις, ἀσεβέσι καὶ ἁμαρτωλοῖς, ἀνοσίοις καὶ βεβήλοις, πατρολῴαις καὶ μητρολῴαις, ἀνδροφόνοις,
1:10 para los fornicarios, para los sodomitas, para los secuestradores, para los mentirosos y perjuros, y para cuanto se oponga a la sana doctrina, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; 10 πόρνοις, ἀρσενοκοίταις, ἀνδραποδισταῖς, ψεύσταις, ἐπιόρκοις, καὶ εἴ τι ἕτερον τῇ ὑγιαινούσῃ διδασκαλίᾳ ἀντίκειται,
1:11 según el glorioso evangelio del Dios bendito, que a mí me ha sido encomendado. According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. 11 κατὰ τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς δόξης τοῦ μακαρίου θεοῦ, ὃ ἐπιστεύθην ἐγώ.
1:12 Doy gracias al que me fortaleció, a Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor, porque me tuvo por fiel, poniéndome en el ministerio, And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; 12 χάριν ἔχω τῶ ἐνδυναμώσαντί με χριστῶ ἰησοῦ τῶ κυρίῳ ἡμῶν, ὅτι πιστόν με ἡγήσατο θέμενος εἰς διακονίαν,
1:13 habiendo yo sido antes blasfemo, perseguidor e injuriador; mas fui recibido a misericordia porque lo hice por ignorancia, en incredulidad. Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 13 τὸ πρότερον ὄντα βλάσφημον καὶ διώκτην καὶ ὑβριστήν· ἀλλὰ ἠλεήθην, ὅτι ἀγνοῶν ἐποίησα ἐν ἀπιστίᾳ,
1:14 Pero la gracia de nuestro Señor fue más abundante con la fe y el amor que es en Cristo Jesús. And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 14 ὑπερεπλεόνασεν δὲ ἡ χάρις τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν μετὰ πίστεως καὶ ἀγάπης τῆς ἐν χριστῶ ἰησοῦ.
1:15 Palabra fiel y digna de ser recibida por todos: que Cristo Jesús vino al mundo para salvar a los pecadores, de los cuales yo soy el primero. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. 15 πιστὸς ὁ λόγος καὶ πάσης ἀποδοχῆς ἄξιος, ὅτι χριστὸς ἰησοῦς ἦλθεν εἰς τὸν κόσμον ἁμαρτωλοὺς σῶσαι· ὧν πρῶτός εἰμι ἐγώ,
1:16 Pero por esto fui recibido a misericordia, para que Jesucristo mostrase en mí el primero toda su clemencia, para ejemplo de los que habrían de creer en él para vida eterna. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. 16 ἀλλὰ διὰ τοῦτο ἠλεήθην, ἵνα ἐν ἐμοὶ πρώτῳ ἐνδείξηται χριστὸς ἰησοῦς τὴν ἅπασαν μακροθυμίαν, πρὸς ὑποτύπωσιν τῶν μελλόντων πιστεύειν ἐπ᾽ αὐτῶ εἰς ζωὴν αἰώνιον.
1:17 Por tanto, al Rey de los siglos, inmortal, invisible, al único y sabio Dios, sea honor y gloria por los siglos de los siglos. Amén. Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. 17 τῶ δὲ βασιλεῖ τῶν αἰώνων, ἀφθάρτῳ, ἀοράτῳ, μόνῳ θεῶ, τιμὴ καὶ δόξα εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων· ἀμήν.
1:18 Este mandamiento, hijo Timoteo, te encargo, para que conforme a las profecías que se hicieron antes en cuanto a ti, milites por ellas la buena milicia, This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; 18 ταύτην τὴν παραγγελίαν παρατίθεμαί σοι, τέκνον τιμόθεε, κατὰ τὰς προαγούσας ἐπὶ σὲ προφητείας, ἵνα στρατεύῃ ἐν αὐταῖς τὴν καλὴν στρατείαν,
1:19 manteniendo la fe y buena conciencia, desechando la cual naufragaron en cuanto a la fe algunos, Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: 19 ἔχων πίστιν καὶ ἀγαθὴν συνείδησιν, ἥν τινες ἀπωσάμενοι περὶ τὴν πίστιν ἐναυάγησαν·
1:20 de los cuales son Himeneo y Alejandro, a quienes entregué a Satanás para que aprendan a no blasfemar. Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme. 20 ὧν ἐστιν ὑμέναιος καὶ ἀλέξανδρος, οὓς παρέδωκα τῶ σατανᾷ ἵνα παιδευθῶσιν μὴ βλασφημεῖν.
2:1 Exhorto ante todo, a que se hagan rogativas, oraciones, peticiones y acciones de gracias, por todos los hombres; I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 1 παρακαλῶ οὗν πρῶτον πάντων ποιεῖσθαι δεήσεις, προσευχάς, ἐντεύξεις, εὐχαριστίας, ὑπὲρ πάντων ἀνθρώπων,
2:2 por los reyes y por todos los que están en eminencia, para que vivamos quieta y reposadamente en toda piedad y honestidad. For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 2 ὑπὲρ βασιλέων καὶ πάντων τῶν ἐν ὑπεροχῇ ὄντων, ἵνα ἤρεμον καὶ ἡσύχιον βίον διάγωμεν ἐν πάσῃ εὐσεβείᾳ καὶ σεμνότητι.
2:3 Porque esto es bueno y agradable delante de Dios nuestro Salvador, For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 3 τοῦτο καλὸν καὶ ἀπόδεκτον ἐνώπιον τοῦ σωτῆρος ἡμῶν θεοῦ,
2:4 el cual quiere que todos los hombres sean salvos y vengan al conocimiento de la verdad. Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 4 ὃς πάντας ἀνθρώπους θέλει σωθῆναι καὶ εἰς ἐπίγνωσιν ἀληθείας ἐλθεῖν.
2:5 Porque hay un solo Dios, y un solo mediador entre Dios y los hombres, Jesucristo hombre, For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 5 εἷς γὰρ θεός, εἷς καὶ μεσίτης θεοῦ καὶ ἀνθρώπων, ἄνθρωπος χριστὸς ἰησοῦς,
2:6 el cual se dio a sí mismo en rescate por todos, de lo cual se dio testimonio a su debido tiempo. Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. 6 ὁ δοὺς ἑαυτὸν ἀντίλυτρον ὑπὲρ πάντων, τὸ μαρτύριον καιροῖς ἰδίοις·
2:7 Para esto yo fui constituido predicador y apóstol (digo verdad en Cristo, no miento), y maestro de los gentiles en fe y verdad. Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. 7 εἰς ὃ ἐτέθην ἐγὼ κῆρυξ καὶ ἀπόστολος _ ἀλήθειαν λέγω, οὐ ψεύδομαι _ διδάσκαλος ἐθνῶν ἐν πίστει καὶ ἀληθείᾳ.
2:8 Quiero, pues, que los hombres oren en todo lugar, levantando manos santas, sin ira ni contienda. I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. 8 βούλομαι οὗν προσεύχεσθαι τοὺς ἄνδρας ἐν παντὶ τόπῳ, ἐπαίροντας ὁσίους χεῖρας χωρὶς ὀργῆς καὶ διαλογισμοῦ·
2:9 Asimismo que las mujeres se atavíen de ropa decorosa, con pudor y modestia; no con peinado ostentoso, ni oro, ni perlas, ni vestidos costosos, In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 9 ὡσαύτως καὶ γυναῖκας ἐν καταστολῇ κοσμίῳ μετὰ αἰδοῦς καὶ σωφροσύνης κοσμεῖν ἑαυτάς, μὴ ἐν πλέγμασιν καὶ χρυσίῳ ἢ μαργαρίταις ἢ ἱματισμῶ πολυτελεῖ,
2:10 sino con buenas obras, como corresponde a mujeres que profesan piedad. But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. 10 ἀλλ᾽ ὃ πρέπει γυναιξὶν ἐπαγγελλομέναις θεοσέβειαν, δι᾽ ἔργων ἀγαθῶν.
2:11 La mujer aprenda en silencio, con toda sujeción. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 11 γυνὴ ἐν ἡσυχίᾳ μανθανέτω ἐν πάσῃ ὑποταγῇ·
2:12 Porque no permito a la mujer enseñar, ni ejercer dominio sobre el hombre, sino estar en silencio. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 12 διδάσκειν δὲ γυναικὶ οὐκ ἐπιτρέπω, οὐδὲ αὐθεντεῖν ἀνδρός, ἀλλ᾽ εἶναι ἐν ἡσυχίᾳ.
2:13 Porque Adán fue formado primero, después Eva; For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 13 ἀδὰμ γὰρ πρῶτος ἐπλάσθη, εἶτα εὕα·
2:14 y Adán no fue engañado, sino que la mujer, siendo engañada, incurrió en transgresión. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 14 καὶ ἀδὰμ οὐκ ἠπατήθη, ἡ δὲ γυνὴ ἐξαπατηθεῖσα ἐν παραβάσει γέγονεν.
2:15 Pero se salvará engendrando hijos, si permaneciere en fe, amor y santificación, con modestia. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. 15 σωθήσεται δὲ διὰ τῆς τεκνογονίας, ἐὰν μείνωσιν ἐν πίστει καὶ ἀγάπῃ καὶ ἁγιασμῶ μετὰ σωφροσύνης.
3:1 Palabra fiel: Si alguno anhela obispado, buena obra desea. This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 1 πιστὸς ὁ λόγος· εἴ τις ἐπισκοπῆς ὀρέγεται, καλοῦ ἔργου ἐπιθυμεῖ.
3:2 Pero es necesario que el obispo sea irreprensible, marido de una sola mujer, sobrio, prudente, decoroso, hospedador, apto para enseñar; A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 2 δεῖ οὗν τὸν ἐπίσκοπον ἀνεπίλημπτον εἶναι, μιᾶς γυναικὸς ἄνδρα, νηφάλιον, σώφρονα, κόσμιον, φιλόξενον, διδακτικόν,
3:3 no dado al vino, no pendenciero, no codicioso de ganancias deshonestas, sino amable, apacible, no avaro; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 3 μὴ πάροινον, μὴ πλήκτην, ἀλλὰ ἐπιεικῆ, ἄμαχον, ἀφιλάργυρον,
3:4 que gobierne bien su casa, que tenga a sus hijos en sujeción con toda honestidad One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 4 τοῦ ἰδίου οἴκου καλῶς προϊστάμενον, τέκνα ἔχοντα ἐν ὑποταγῇ μετὰ πάσης σεμνότητος·
3:5 (pues el que no sabe gobernar su propia casa, ¿cómo cuidará de la iglesia de Dios?); (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) 5 εἰ δέ τις τοῦ ἰδίου οἴκου προστῆναι οὐκ οἶδεν, πῶς ἐκκλησίας θεοῦ ἐπιμελήσεται;
3:6 no un neófito, no sea que envaneciéndose caiga en la condenación del diablo. Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 6 μὴ νεόφυτον, ἵνα μὴ τυφωθεὶς εἰς κρίμα ἐμπέσῃ τοῦ διαβόλου.
3:7 También es necesario que tenga buen testimonio de los de afuera, para que no caiga en descrédito y en lazo del diablo. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. 7 δεῖ δὲ καὶ μαρτυρίαν καλὴν ἔχειν ἀπὸ τῶν ἔξωθεν, ἵνα μὴ εἰς ὀνειδισμὸν ἐμπέσῃ καὶ παγίδα τοῦ διαβόλου.
3:8 Los diáconos asimismo deben ser honestos, sin doblez, no dados a mucho vino, no codiciosos de ganancias deshonestas; Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; 8 διακόνους ὡσαύτως σεμνούς, μὴ διλόγους, μὴ οἴνῳ πολλῶ προσέχοντας, μὴ αἰσχροκερδεῖς,
3:9 que guarden el misterio de la fe con limpia conciencia. Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. 9 ἔχοντας τὸ μυστήριον τῆς πίστεως ἐν καθαρᾷ συνειδήσει.
3:10 Y éstos también sean sometidos a prueba primero, y entonces ejerzan el diaconado, si son irreprensibles. And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. 10 καὶ οὖτοι δὲ δοκιμαζέσθωσαν πρῶτον, εἶτα διακονείτωσαν ἀνέγκλητοι ὄντες.
3:11 Las mujeres asimismo sean honestas, no calumniadoras, sino sobrias, fieles en todo. Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. 11 γυναῖκας ὡσαύτως σεμνάς, μὴ διαβόλους, νηφαλίους, πιστὰς ἐν πᾶσιν.
3:12 Los diáconos sean maridos de una sola mujer, y que gobiernen bien sus hijos y sus casas. Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 12 διάκονοι ἔστωσαν μιᾶς γυναικὸς ἄνδρες, τέκνων καλῶς προϊστάμενοι καὶ τῶν ἰδίων οἴκων·
3:13 Porque los que ejerzan bien el diaconado, ganan para sí un grado honroso, y mucha confianza en la fe que es en Cristo Jesús. For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. 13 οἱ γὰρ καλῶς διακονήσαντες βαθμὸν ἑαυτοῖς καλὸν περιποιοῦνται καὶ πολλὴν παρρησίαν ἐν πίστει τῇ ἐν χριστῶ ἰησοῦ.
3:14 Esto te escribo, aunque tengo la esperanza de ir pronto a verte, These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: 14 ταῦτά σοι γράφω, ἐλπίζων ἐλθεῖν πρὸς σὲ ἐν τάχει·
3:15 para que si tardo, sepas cómo debes conducirte en la casa de Dios, que es la iglesia del Dios viviente, columna y baluarte de la verdad. But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 15 ἐὰν δὲ βραδύνω, ἵνα εἰδῇς πῶς δεῖ ἐν οἴκῳ θεοῦ ἀναστρέφεσθαι, ἥτις ἐστὶν ἐκκλησία θεοῦ ζῶντος, στῦλος καὶ ἑδραίωμα τῆς ἀληθείας.
3:16 E indiscutiblemente, grande es el misterio de la piedad: Dios fue manifestado en carne, Justificado en el Espíritu, Visto de los ángeles, Predicado a los gentiles, Creído en el mundo, Recibido arriba en gloria. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. 16 καὶ ὁμολογουμένως μέγα ἐστὶν τὸ τῆς εὐσεβείας μυστήριον· ὃς ἐφανερώθη ἐν σαρκί, ἐδικαιώθη ἐν πνεύματι, ὤφθη ἀγγέλοις, ἐκηρύχθη ἐν ἔθνεσιν, ἐπιστεύθη ἐν κόσμῳ, ἀνελήμφθη ἐν δόξῃ.
4:1 Pero el Espíritu dice claramente que en los postreros tiempos algunos apostatarán de la fe, escuchando a espíritus engañadores y a doctrinas de demonios; Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 1 τὸ δὲ πνεῦμα ῥητῶς λέγει ὅτι ἐν ὑστέροις καιροῖς ἀποστήσονταί τινες τῆς πίστεως, προσέχοντες πνεύμασιν πλάνοις καὶ διδασκαλίαις δαιμονίων,
4:2 por la hipocresía de mentirosos que, teniendo cauterizada la conciencia, Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 2 ἐν ὑποκρίσει ψευδολόγων, κεκαυστηριασμένων τὴν ἰδίαν συνείδησιν,
4:3 prohibirán casarse, y mandarán abstenerse de alimentos que Dios creó para que con acción de gracias participasen de ellos los creyentes y los que han conocido la verdad. Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 3 κωλυόντων γαμεῖν, ἀπέχεσθαι βρωμάτων ἃ ὁ θεὸς ἔκτισεν εἰς μετάλημψιν μετὰ εὐχαριστίας τοῖς πιστοῖς καὶ ἐπεγνωκόσι τὴν ἀλήθειαν.
4:4 Porque todo lo que Dios creó es bueno, y nada es de desecharse, si se toma con acción de gracias; For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 4 ὅτι πᾶν κτίσμα θεοῦ καλόν, καὶ οὐδὲν ἀπόβλητον μετὰ εὐχαριστίας λαμβανόμενον,
4:5 porque por la palabra de Dios y por la oración es santificado. For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. 5 ἁγιάζεται γὰρ διὰ λόγου θεοῦ καὶ ἐντεύξεως.
4:6 Si esto enseñas a los hermanos, serás buen ministro de Jesucristo, nutrido con las palabras de la fe y de la buena doctrina que has seguido. If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. 6 ταῦτα ὑποτιθέμενος τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς καλὸς ἔσῃ διάκονος χριστοῦ ἰησοῦ, ἐντρεφόμενος τοῖς λόγοις τῆς πίστεως καὶ τῆς καλῆς διδασκαλίας ᾗ παρηκολούθηκας·
4:7 Desecha las fábulas profanas y de viejas. Ejercítate para la piedad; But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. 7 τοὺς δὲ βεβήλους καὶ γραώδεις μύθους παραιτοῦ. γύμναζε δὲ σεαυτὸν πρὸς εὐσέβειαν·
4:8 porque el ejercicio corporal para poco es provechoso, pero la piedad para todo aprovecha, pues tiene promesa de esta vida presente, y de la venidera. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. 8 ἡ γὰρ σωματικὴ γυμνασία πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶν ὠφέλιμος, ἡ δὲ εὐσέβεια πρὸς πάντα ὠφέλιμός ἐστιν, ἐπαγγελίαν ἔχουσα ζωῆς τῆς νῦν καὶ τῆς μελλούσης.
4:9 Palabra fiel es esta, y digna de ser recibida por todos. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. 9 πιστὸς ὁ λόγος καὶ πάσης ἀποδοχῆς ἄξιος·
4:10 que por esto mismo trabajamos y sufrimos oprobios, porque esperamos en el Dios viviente, que es el Salvador de todos los hombres, mayormente de los que creen. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. 10 εἰς τοῦτο γὰρ κοπιῶμεν καὶ ἀγωνιζόμεθα, ὅτι ἠλπίκαμεν ἐπὶ θεῶ ζῶντι, ὅς ἐστιν σωτὴρ πάντων ἀνθρώπων, μάλιστα πιστῶν.
4:11 Esto manda y enseña. These things command and teach. 11 παράγγελλε ταῦτα καὶ δίδασκε.
4:12 Ninguno tenga en poco tu juventud, sino sé ejemplo de los creyentes en palabra, conducta, amor, espíritu, fe y pureza. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 12 μηδείς σου τῆς νεότητος καταφρονείτω, ἀλλὰ τύπος γίνου τῶν πιστῶν ἐν λόγῳ, ἐν ἀναστροφῇ, ἐν ἀγάπῃ, ἐν πίστει, ἐν ἁγνείᾳ.
4:13 Entre tanto que voy, ocúpate en la lectura, la exhortación y la enseñanza. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 13 ἕως ἔρχομαι πρόσεχε τῇ ἀναγνώσει, τῇ παρακλήσει, τῇ διδασκαλίᾳ.
4:14 No descuides el don que hay en ti, que te fue dado mediante profecía con la imposición de las manos del presbiterio. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. 14 μὴ ἀμέλει τοῦ ἐν σοὶ χαρίσματος, ὃ ἐδόθη σοι διὰ προφητείας μετὰ ἐπιθέσεως τῶν χειρῶν τοῦ πρεσβυτερίου.
4:15 Ocúpate en estas cosas; permanece en ellas, para que tu aprovechamiento sea manifiesto a todos. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. 15 ταῦτα μελέτα, ἐν τούτοις ἴσθι, ἵνα σου ἡ προκοπὴ φανερὰ ᾖ πᾶσιν.
4:16 Ten cuidado de ti mismo y de la doctrina; persiste en ello, pues haciendo esto, te salvarás a ti mismo y a los que te oyeren. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. 16 ἔπεχε σεαυτῶ καὶ τῇ διδασκαλίᾳ· ἐπίμενε αὐτοῖς· τοῦτο γὰρ ποιῶν καὶ σεαυτὸν σώσεις καὶ τοὺς ἀκούοντάς σου.
5:1 No reprendas al anciano, sino exhórtale como a padre; a los más jóvenes, como a hermanos; Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren; 1 πρεσβυτέρῳ μὴ ἐπιπλήξῃς, ἀλλὰ παρακάλει ὡς πατέρα, νεωτέρους ὡς ἀδελφούς,
5:2 a las ancianas, como a madres; a las jovencitas, como a hermanas, con toda pureza. The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity. 2 πρεσβυτέρας ὡς μητέρας, νεωτέρας ὡς ἀδελφὰς ἐν πάσῃ ἁγνείᾳ.
5:3 Honra a las viudas que en verdad lo son. Honour widows that are widows indeed. 3 χήρας τίμα τὰς ὄντως χήρας.
5:4 Pero si alguna viuda tiene hijos, o nietos, aprendan éstos primero a ser piadosos para con su propia familia, y a recompensar a sus padres; porque esto es lo bueno y agradable delante de Dios. But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God. 4 εἰ δέ τις χήρα τέκνα ἢ ἔκγονα ἔχει, μανθανέτωσαν πρῶτον τὸν ἴδιον οἶκον εὐσεβεῖν καὶ ἀμοιβὰς ἀποδιδόναι τοῖς προγόνοις, τοῦτο γάρ ἐστιν ἀπόδεκτον ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ.
5:5 Mas la que en verdad es viuda y ha quedado sola, espera en Dios, y es diligente en súplicas y oraciones noche y día. Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day. 5 ἡ δὲ ὄντως χήρα καὶ μεμονωμένη ἤλπικεν ἐπὶ θεὸν καὶ προσμένει ταῖς δεήσεσιν καὶ ταῖς προσευχαῖς νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας·
5:6 Pero la que se entrega a los placeres, viviendo está muerta. But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth. 6 ἡ δὲ σπαταλῶσα ζῶσα τέθνηκεν.
5:7 Manda también estas cosas, para que sean irreprensibles; And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless. 7 καὶ ταῦτα παράγγελλε, ἵνα ἀνεπίλημπτοι ὦσιν.
5:8 porque si alguno no provee para los suyos, y mayormente para los de su casa, ha negado la fe, y es peor que un incrédulo. But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. 8 εἰ δέ τις τῶν ἰδίων καὶ μάλιστα οἰκείων οὐ προνοεῖ, τὴν πίστιν ἤρνηται καὶ ἔστιν ἀπίστου χείρων.
5:9 Sea puesta en la lista sólo la viuda no menor de sesenta años, que haya sido esposa de un solo marido, Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man, 9 χήρα καταλεγέσθω μὴ ἔλαττον ἐτῶν ἑξήκοντα γεγονυῖα, ἑνὸς ἀνδρὸς γυνή,
5:10 que tenga testimonio de buenas obras; si ha criado hijos; si ha practicado la hospitalidad; si ha lavado los pies de los santos; si ha socorrido a los afligidos; si ha practicado toda buena obra. Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work. 10 ἐν ἔργοις καλοῖς μαρτυρουμένη, εἰ ἐτεκνοτρόφησεν, εἰ ἐξενοδόχησεν, εἰ ἁγίων πόδας ἔνιψεν, εἰ θλιβομένοις ἐπήρκεσεν, εἰ παντὶ ἔργῳ ἀγαθῶ ἐπηκολούθησεν.
5:11 Pero viudas más jóvenes no admitas; porque cuando, impulsadas por sus deseos, se rebelan contra Cristo, quieren casarse, But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry; 11 νεωτέρας δὲ χήρας παραιτοῦ· ὅταν γὰρ καταστρηνιάσωσιν τοῦ χριστοῦ, γαμεῖν θέλουσιν,
5:12 incurriendo así en condenación, por haber quebrantado su primera fe. Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith. 12 ἔχουσαι κρίμα ὅτι τὴν πρώτην πίστιν ἠθέτησαν·
5:13 Y también aprenden a ser ociosas, andando de casa en casa; y no solamente ociosas, sino también chismosas y entremetidas, hablando lo que no debieran. And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not. 13 ἅμα δὲ καὶ ἀργαὶ μανθάνουσιν, περιερχόμεναι τὰς οἰκίας, οὐ μόνον δὲ ἀργαὶ ἀλλὰ καὶ φλύαροι καὶ περίεργοι, λαλοῦσαι τὰ μὴ δέοντα.
5:14 Quiero, pues, que las viudas jóvenes se casen, críen hijos, gobiernen su casa; que no den al adversario ninguna ocasión de maledicencia. I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. 14 βούλομαι οὗν νεωτέρας γαμεῖν, τεκνογονεῖν, οἰκοδεσποτεῖν, μηδεμίαν ἀφορμὴν διδόναι τῶ ἀντικειμένῳ λοιδορίας χάριν·
5:15 Porque ya algunas se han apartado en pos de Satanás. For some are already turned aside after Satan. 15 ἤδη γάρ τινες ἐξετράπησαν ὀπίσω τοῦ σατανᾶ.
5:16 Si algún creyente o alguna creyente tiene viudas, que las mantenga, y no sea gravada la iglesia, a fin de que haya lo suficiente para las que en verdad son viudas. If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed. 16 εἴ τις πιστὴ ἔχει χήρας, ἐπαρκείτω αὐταῖς, καὶ μὴ βαρείσθω ἡ ἐκκλησία, ἵνα ταῖς ὄντως χήραις ἐπαρκέσῃ.
5:17 Los ancianos que gobiernan bien, sean tenidos por dignos de doble honor, mayormente los que trabajan en predicar y enseñar. Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 17 οἱ καλῶς προεστῶτες πρεσβύτεροι διπλῆς τιμῆς ἀξιούσθωσαν, μάλιστα οἱ κοπιῶντες ἐν λόγῳ καὶ διδασκαλίᾳ·
5:18 Pues la Escritura dice: No pondrás bozal al buey que trilla; y: Digno es el obrero de su salario. For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. 18 λέγει γὰρ ἡ γραφή, βοῦν ἀλοῶντα οὐ φιμώσεις· καί, ἄξιος ὁ ἐργάτης τοῦ μισθοῦ αὐτοῦ.
5:19 Contra un anciano no admitas acusación sino con dos o tres testigos. Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. 19 κατὰ πρεσβυτέρου κατηγορίαν μὴ παραδέχου, ἐκτὸς εἰ μὴ ἐπὶ δύο ἢ τριῶν μαρτύρων.
5:20 A los que persisten en pecar, repréndelos delante de todos, para que los demás también teman. Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. 20 τοὺς ἁμαρτάνοντας ἐνώπιον πάντων ἔλεγχε, ἵνα καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ φόβον ἔχωσιν.
5:21 Te encarezco delante de Dios y del Señor Jesucristo, y de sus ángeles escogidos, que guardes estas cosas sin prejuicios, no haciendo nada con parcialidad. I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality. 21 διαμαρτύρομαι ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ χριστοῦ ἰησοῦ καὶ τῶν ἐκλεκτῶν ἀγγέλων, ἵνα ταῦτα φυλάξῃς χωρὶς προκρίματος, μηδὲν ποιῶν κατὰ πρόσκλισιν.
5:22 No impongas con ligereza las manos a ninguno, ni participes en pecados ajenos. Consérvate puro. Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure. 22 χεῖρας ταχέως μηδενὶ ἐπιτίθει, μηδὲ κοινώνει ἁμαρτίαις ἀλλοτρίαις· σεαυτὸν ἁγνὸν τήρει.
5:23 Ya no bebas agua, sino usa de un poco de vino por causa de tu estómago y de tus frecuentes enfermedades. Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities. 23 μηκέτι ὑδροπότει, ἀλλὰ οἴνῳ ὀλίγῳ χρῶ διὰ τὸν στόμαχον καὶ τὰς πυκνάς σου ἀσθενείας.
5:24 Los pecados de algunos hombres se hacen patentes antes que ellos vengan a juicio, mas a otros se les descubren después. Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after. 24 τινῶν ἀνθρώπων αἱ ἁμαρτίαι πρόδηλοί εἰσιν, προάγουσαι εἰς κρίσιν, τισὶν δὲ καὶ ἐπακολουθοῦσιν·
5:25 Asimismo se hacen manifiestas las buenas obras; y las que son de otra manera, no pueden permanecer ocultas. Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid. 25 ὡσαύτως καὶ τὰ ἔργα τὰ καλὰ πρόδηλα, καὶ τὰ ἄλλως ἔχοντα κρυβῆναι οὐ δύνανται.
6:1 Todos los que están bajo el yugo de esclavitud, tengan a sus amos por dignos de todo honor, para que no sea blasfemado el nombre de Dios y la doctrina. Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. 1 ὅσοι εἰσὶν ὑπὸ ζυγὸν δοῦλοι, τοὺς ἰδίους δεσπότας πάσης τιμῆς ἀξίους ἡγείσθωσαν, ἵνα μὴ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἡ διδασκαλία βλασφημῆται.
6:2 Y los que tienen amos creyentes, no los tengan en menos por ser hermanos, sino sírvanles mejor, por cuanto son creyentes y amados los que se benefician de su buen servicio. Esto enseña y exhorta. And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. 2 οἱ δὲ πιστοὺς ἔχοντες δεσπότας μὴ καταφρονείτωσαν, ὅτι ἀδελφοί εἰσιν· ἀλλὰ μᾶλλον δουλευέτωσαν, ὅτι πιστοί εἰσιν καὶ ἀγαπητοὶ οἱ τῆς εὐεργεσίας ἀντιλαμβανόμενοι. ταῦτα δίδασκε καὶ παρακάλει.
6:3 Si alguno enseña otra cosa, y no se conforma a las sanas palabras de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, y a la doctrina que es conforme a la piedad, If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 3 εἴ τις ἑτεροδιδασκαλεῖ καὶ μὴ προσέρχεται ὑγιαίνουσιν λόγοις, τοῖς τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ, καὶ τῇ κατ᾽ εὐσέβειαν διδασκαλίᾳ,
6:4 está envanecido, nada sabe, y delira acerca de cuestiones y contiendas de palabras, de las cuales nacen envidias, pleitos, blasfemias, malas sospechas, He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 4 τετύφωται, μηδὲν ἐπιστάμενος, ἀλλὰ νοσῶν περὶ ζητήσεις καὶ λογομαχίας, ἐξ ὧν γίνεται φθόνος, ἔρις, βλασφημίαι, ὑπόνοιαι πονηραί,
6:5 disputas necias de hombres corruptos de entendimiento y privados de la verdad, que toman la piedad como fuente de ganancia; apártate de los tales. Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 5 διαπαρατριβαὶ διεφθαρμένων ἀνθρώπων τὸν νοῦν καὶ ἀπεστερημένων τῆς ἀληθείας, νομιζόντων πορισμὸν εἶναι τὴν εὐσέβειαν.
6:6 Pero gran ganancia es la piedad acompañada de contentamiento; But godliness with contentment is great gain. 6 ἔστιν δὲ πορισμὸς μέγας ἡ εὐσέβεια μετὰ αὐταρκείας·
6:7 porque nada hemos traído a este mundo, y sin duda nada podremos sacar. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 7 οὐδὲν γὰρ εἰσηνέγκαμεν εἰς τὸν κόσμον, ὅτι οὐδὲ ἐξενεγκεῖν τι δυνάμεθα·
6:8 Así que, teniendo sustento y abrigo, estemos contentos con esto. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 8 ἔχοντες δὲ διατροφὰς καὶ σκεπάσματα, τούτοις ἀρκεσθησόμεθα.
6:9 Porque los que quieren enriquecerse caen en tentación y lazo, y en muchas codicias necias y dañosas, que hunden a los hombres en destrucción y perdición; But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 9 οἱ δὲ βουλόμενοι πλουτεῖν ἐμπίπτουσιν εἰς πειρασμὸν καὶ παγίδα καὶ ἐπιθυμίας πολλὰς ἀνοήτους καὶ βλαβεράς, αἵτινες βυθίζουσιν τοὺς ἀνθρώπους εἰς ὄλεθρον καὶ ἀπώλειαν·
6:10 porque raíz de todos los males es el amor al dinero, el cual codiciando algunos, se extraviaron de la fe, y fueron traspasados de muchos dolores. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 10 ῥίζα γὰρ πάντων τῶν κακῶν ἐστιν ἡ φιλαργυρία, ἧς τινες ὀρεγόμενοι ἀπεπλανήθησαν ἀπὸ τῆς πίστεως καὶ ἑαυτοὺς περιέπειραν ὀδύναις πολλαῖς.
6:11 Mas tú, oh hombre de Dios, huye de estas cosas, y sigue la justicia, la piedad, la fe, el amor, la paciencia, la mansedumbre. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 11 σὺ δέ, ὦ ἄνθρωπε θεοῦ, ταῦτα φεῦγε· δίωκε δὲ δικαιοσύνην, εὐσέβειαν, πίστιν, ἀγάπην, ὑπομονήν, πραϊπαθίαν.
6:12 Pelea la buena batalla de la fe, echa mano de la vida eterna, a la cual asimismo fuiste llamado, habiendo hecho la buena profesión delante de muchos testigos. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 12 ἀγωνίζου τὸν καλὸν ἀγῶνα τῆς πίστεως, ἐπιλαβοῦ τῆς αἰωνίου ζωῆς, εἰς ἣν ἐκλήθης καὶ ὡμολόγησας τὴν καλὴν ὁμολογίαν ἐνώπιον πολλῶν μαρτύρων.
6:13 Te mando delante de Dios, que da vida a todas las cosas, y de Jesucristo, que dio testimonio de la buena profesión delante de Poncio Pilato, I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; 13 παραγγέλλω σοι ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ζῳογονοῦντος τὰ πάντα καὶ χριστοῦ ἰησοῦ τοῦ μαρτυρήσαντος ἐπὶ ποντίου πιλάτου τὴν καλὴν ὁμολογίαν,
6:14 que guardes el mandamiento sin mácula ni reprensión, hasta la aparición de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: 14 τηρῆσαί σε τὴν ἐντολὴν ἄσπιλον ἀνεπίλημπτον μέχρι τῆς ἐπιφανείας τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ,
6:15 la cual a su tiempo mostrará el bienaventurado y solo Soberano, Rey de reyes, y Señor de señores, Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 15 ἣν καιροῖς ἰδίοις δείξει ὁ μακάριος καὶ μόνος δυνάστης, ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν βασιλευόντων καὶ κύριος τῶν κυριευόντων,
6:16 el único que tiene inmortalidad, que habita en luz inaccesible; a quien ninguno de los hombres ha visto ni puede ver, al cual sea la honra y el imperio sempiterno. Amén. Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. 16 ὁ μόνος ἔχων ἀθανασίαν, φῶς οἰκῶν ἀπρόσιτον, ὃν εἶδεν οὐδεὶς ἀνθρώπων οὐδὲ ἰδεῖν δύναται· ᾧ τιμὴ καὶ κράτος αἰώνιον· ἀμήν.
6:17 A los ricos de este siglo manda que no sean altivos, ni pongan la esperanza en las riquezas, las cuales son inciertas, sino en el Dios vivo, que nos da todas las cosas en abundancia para que las disfrutemos. Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 17 τοῖς πλουσίοις ἐν τῶ νῦν αἰῶνι παράγγελλε μὴ ὑψηλοφρονεῖν μηδὲ ἠλπικέναι ἐπὶ πλούτου ἀδηλότητι, ἀλλ᾽ ἐπὶ θεῶ τῶ παρέχοντι ἡμῖν πάντα πλουσίως εἰς ἀπόλαυσιν,
6:18 Que hagan bien, que sean ricos en buenas obras, dadivosos, generosos; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 18 ἀγαθοεργεῖν, πλουτεῖν ἐν ἔργοις καλοῖς, εὐμεταδότους εἶναι, κοινωνικούς,
6:19 atesorando para sí buen fundamento para lo por venir, que echen mano de la vida eterna. Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 19 ἀποθησαυρίζοντας ἑαυτοῖς θεμέλιον καλὸν εἰς τὸ μέλλον, ἵνα ἐπιλάβωνται τῆς ὄντως ζωῆς.
6:20 Oh Timoteo, guarda lo que se te ha encomendado, evitando las profanas pláticas sobre cosas vanas, y los argumentos de la falsamente llamada ciencia, O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: 20 ὦ τιμόθεε, τὴν παραθήκην φύλαξον, ἐκτρεπόμενος τὰς βεβήλους κενοφωνίας καὶ ἀντιθέσεις τῆς ψευδωνύμου γνώσεως,
